At Ivy Brothers, we have many students that are interested in combining interests in two disparate disciplines. In many cases, this makes students' applications stronger as they find ways to stand out from the competition.
Case Study
A junior from a top private high school in New York City, interested in quantum physics, fine art, and epistemology. Strong in both physics and art, but looking to create a spike that bridges both fields and challenges conventional boundaries.
Quantum-Coupled Artifacts: Art That Exists in Multiple Realities
Can a work of art exist in more than one place at once? Can ownership be shared across quantum states?
This passion project explores the intersection of quantum entanglement and aesthetic expression by designing interactive artworks that play with the idea of co-location, uncertainty, and dual realities.
The student collaborates with quantum physicists, digital artists, and philosophers to conceptualize and build installations that exist both physically and conceptually in multiple "realities."
At Ivy Brothers, we believe in having highly personalized, targeted positioning depending on the school and what the individual admission office may be looking for.
STEM schools (MIT, Stanford, Caltech): For these, the student emphasized quantum simulation and creative use of physics in experimental formats.
Ivy/Interdisciplinary schools (Yale, Brown, Columbia): For these schools, the counselor advised the student to focus on philosophical depth, aesthetic originality, and critical inquiry into reality and ownership.
Art + Tech Programs (NYU ITP, USC Iovine, RISD x Brown Dual Degree): Finally, for programs like this, the mentor guided the student on portraying himself as a boundary-breaking artist-technologist.
